About the company
Imerys British Lithium (IBL) is developing a world class micaceous lithium resource in Cornwall. We have developed unique, patented technology for the sustainable recovery of battery grade lithium carbonate from micaceous granite, with the goal of building the world’s first integrated lithium mine, beneficiation plant and refinery producing 20,000 tonnes of lithium carbonate per year (enough to support production in the UK each year of 350,000 electric vehicles) by the end of the decade.
We operate a state-of-the-art pilot plant, built to develop our unique LiMica-Sep™ and Li-Sep™ technologies. Capabilities at the facility involve a wide range of process technologies, such as mineral beneficiation, pyrometallurgy, hydrometallurgy, precipitation, crystallisation, and ion exchange, at both the laboratory and industrial scales
The job role
As a Junior Exploration Geologist, you’ll
- Process drill core samples from hard rock Lithium
- Mark, photograph and log drill core samples
- Core logging and cutting
- Transport samples from the quarry to the lab
- Conduct testing of samples
- Adhere to strict health and safety protocols for yourself and others around you
- Be prepared to work outdoors in all weather conditions
This is a physically demanding role that involves lifting core trays weighing up to 30kg, which will be carried out as a two-person task

You will:
- Have a BSc in Geology or similar field
- Hold a full UK driving licence
- Be willing to undertake mandatory Manual Handing and Abrasive Wheel Training
- Be passionate about Geology
- Have good attention to detail
- Be able to use your own initiative
- Be a team player
