The Heart of Newhaven Community was constituted on 28th January 2019 with a Steering Group of 12 members.

We registered as a SCIO on 4th February 2020 and acquired the former Victoria Primary School from The City of Edinburgh Council by Community Asset Transfer in August 2022, with funding from Scottish Land Fund.

We have developed the former school, now known as “The Heart”, into an intergenerational community hub. We have three themes, identified by community consultation: Culture & Heritage, Learning & Enterprise and Community Well-Being.
