JOB TITLE: Nail Technician

HOURS: 6 hours per week (with extra hours building)

BASED AT: Covering various locations in Bridgend, and willing to support in Merthyr Tydfil and Rhondda Cynon Taf

RESPONSIBLE TO: Home First Programme Manager

SALARY: £12.75 per hour

TENURE: Fixed Term Contract – 12 months

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide a professional nail cutting service to clients within Bridgend, Merthyr Tydfil, and Rhondda Cynon Taf.
  • Attend appointments at residential properties, community clinics, or care homes, as required.
  • Process payments for appointments in line with cash handling process.
  • To fully comply with the regulations regarding the safe use of nail cutting tools in line with the training received.
  • To complete the required assessments with clients on their health/medication in order to ensure they meet the relevant criteria.
  • To ensure the correct health and safety equipment is used, i.e., nail clippers, sprays, foot stools, protective clothing at all times.
  • To complete the required paperwork in respect of clients so that all paperwork is kept up to date whilst observing confidentiality of information.
  • To manage time effectively for each appointment and ensure clients are notified of any change in appointment times.
  • Attend mandatory training.
  • Take part in staff meetings as and when required.
  • Work flexibly in line with the needs of the business to ensure the safe delivery of our service.
  • To be responsible for your own health and safety and the health and safety of others.
  • To ensure you follow the company’s policies and processes with regard to equal opportunities and discrimination.
  • Any other duties relevant with the post as directed by the Co-ordinator/Line Manager.

PERSON SPECIFICATION

Knowledge/ Education

ESSENTIAL

  • Qualification or training course in nail cutting or podiatry
  • Awareness of Health and Safety, including COSHH, first aid and manual handling
  • Awareness of Data protection and GDPR laws
  • An understanding of the issues which affect older people
  • Basic literacy, numeracy and digital skills

DESIRABLE

  • NVQ level 2/3 in health and social care
  • A good understanding of the geographical areas covered

Skills/ Abilities

ESSENTIAL

  • Ability to work as part of a team
  • Ability to communicate effectively both written and verbally
  • Ability to adhere to the health and safety regulations in respect of nail cutting provisions
  • Ability to work on own initiative unsupervised, in line with lone working procedures
  • Ability to manage own time and workload, and capable of using own initiative

Experience

ESSENTIAL

  • Experience of undertaking nail cutting or an interest in developing this
  • Experience of working with older people
  • Experience of building relationships and building a client portfolio

DESIRABLE

  • Experience of working with people who have dementia
  • Experience of working within a care environment
