Ofcom Wales

Ofcom in Wales is looking for a Welsh speaking policy officer to join its team in Cardiff as their new Regulatory Affairs Advisor.

The role is a brilliant opportunity to work in a fast-moving public policy environment and would suit someone interested in learning more about the importance of the policy making process.

You will work on a range of projects covering online safety, broadcasting and media, networks and communications issues and spectrum policy, promoting Ofcom’s work in these areas in Wales and sharing intelligence gathered through external engagement within Ofcom, influencing policy development so its implementation works successfully in Wales and across the wider UK.

Supporting the new Wales Director, you will also collaborate closely with the team’s Principal and Senior Associate to deliver the team’s overarching objectives relating to stakeholder engagement, policy outcomes and the Welsh language, ensuring Welsh interests are reflected in the development of policy.

Your main responsibilities will include:

  • Ensuring Ofcom’s policy teams understand the attitudes within the Welsh Government, the Senedd, industry in Wales and other stakeholder groups so that the interests of citizens and consumers in Wales are adequately reflected in Ofcom’s policy decisions.
  • Supporting and coordinating relationships with high profile stakeholders and groups in Wales to ensure Ofcom’s responsibilities are fully understood (particularly in respect of Ofcom’s new online safety duties). This will include engagement with the Welsh Government, MSs, industry and wider civic Wales.
  • Co-ordinating work on a wide range of cross-cutting policy issues as necessary, working closely with expert colleagues in the Wales team, Cardiff office and across Ofcom, helping develop thinking as required and appropriate.

At Ofcom, diversity is vital. The organisation is committed to fostering an inclusive environment, promoting diversity of all kinds. The recruitment processes are accessible to all, and Ofcom supports flexible working patterns. Join Ofcom and make a difference in communications services for all.
